THE Leeton Soldiers Club has submitted a development application for alterations and additions to the facility that are expected to cost $68,000. The DA passed through council is for the upgrade of the club’s smoking area to bring it into line with legislation.

Good crowds were treated to some great squash at the finals of the women’s and men’s championships. Natasha Sypott (nee Dunn) defeated defending champion Chris McKay to take out the women’s title, while Nick Naimo won the men’s championship when he defeated defending champion and four-time winner Jacob Harrison.

People with unwanted or untended fruit trees can have them removed for free in a bid to prevent fruit fly outbreaks. The NSW DPI is offering the service to minimise the risk of further outbreaks in the region as it battles to overcome the current threat.
