$8M DEVELOPMENT FOR CLUB
Apartment-style villas and a 40-room motel would overlook the Leeton Soldiers Golf Club course under a bold $8 million redevelopment plan by the club. The proposal to develop the land between the Leeton Soldiers Club and the golf club is the ultimate step in the amalgamation of the two clubs.
CHILDCARE CENTRE TO REMAIN
Leeton ABC Learning Centre will remain open in 2009, the receivers of the group confirmed. However, many of the childcare centres remain under review, including several in the Riverina.
TOP BODY OF WORK
Leeton’s Rosie Trimble capped off an amazing year by finishing sixth in the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation championships in New York earlier in the month. The bodybuilder faced 29 competitors from around the world in her section and was overjoyed with her efforts.
FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
GREEN’S SEEK TO EASE CLOSURE PAIN
In three weeks 40 people will lose their jobs when Green’s General Foods closes its Murrami Road cereals and snacks manufacturing facility. However, the company is hoping the decision to close the factory and the job losses will be offset somewhat by the company now running its pasta manufacturing, Manildra.
AWARD FOR FIVEBOUGH
Fivebough Swamp was Leeton’s key site to winning an award for wildlife corridors and conservation in the 2003 Tidy Town competition.

Nathan Schubert has been named in the Northern Riverina Bradman Cup under-16s team after the trial game played on Sunday.
