The match of the week was between Fred Hammer and Tim Allen. Super-fit Allen covered the court very well making Hammer dig deep to obtain an upset win. This was Allen’s first loss of the competition going down to Hammer 12-10,11-9,5-11,6-11,11-8.
Sarah McAliece subbed up to topple Lizette Taylor 11-3,12-10,10-12,11-8 and Jacob Harrison had a convincing 3-0 win over Brian O’Leary. This meant that Mariners defeated Wanderers, the first time Wanderers have lost.
Jets had a clean sweep against Roars with wins to Rob Hanlon, Gary Thompson, Daniel Shelton and David Grimes. The Phoenixes and Glories had two wins each, the end result going to the Phoenixes on games.
For Glories, Macauley Harrison and Byron Warr won, and for Phoenixes, Dakota Boardman and David Grimes. Grimes subbed up twice to win both matches.
Wednesday saw Taipans remain undefeated by taking care of Breakers, Nicholas Croucamp and David Grimes winning for Taipans and for Breakers Blayne Thompson had a win. Bullets defeated Wildcats, Trish Fletcher and Bryan Shepley won for Bullets while Will Gray-Mills won for Wildcats.
Hawks defeated Kings, with wins to Dion DeMamiel and Alayna Croucamp while Colleen Vaccaro picked up the sole win for Kings.
Thursday and the Sixers went down to Renegades. For Sixers Garry Walker had a good win. The rest of the matches went to Renegades players. Ian Draper and Sean Ryan had strong wins while David Cross had to dig deep for his win against a hard hitting Maanu Alexander. Crossy winning 8-11,11-8,6-11,15-13,11-6 in great show.
Hurricanes were too strong for Scorchers. Brianna Gray-Mills defeated Daniel Shelton 11-6,11-7,11-8. Ryan Mahalm won against a subbing up Tim Allen 7-11,11-8,11-7,11-4. Matt Collins got over the line against an energetic Rod Tait winning 11-8,11-13,11-5,6-11,11-9. The only win for Scorchers went to Emily Lyons who got one back on Sarah Quinlivan, Emily winning 10-12,11-7,14-12,11-6. Stars just got home over Strikers to take out that clash. Col Thompson and Marcelle Steele winning for Stars, the wins for the Strikers went to Anthony Iannelli and Dawid Croucamp.
