Chris O‘Callaghan was a dominant Player of the Week with a world-beating nett 25 after a sluggish start to the season. A lesson, some new clubs and some great playing partners have all contributed to this great score that is to this point the lowest round of season. Chrissy wins the car wash from the Leeton Superwash and the Twilight cap for her efforts. In another twist, the O’Callaghan’s are on a “hat-trick” after Lisa O was last week’s Player of the Round. This heaps all the pressure onto either Maggi or Rob to see if the first Twilight hat-trick can be realised.
There were some other hot scores with Simon Watson tearing the course apart with 33 off the beater giving him a nett 31, Kerren Barnes continues to improve also a 31 and Paul Payne, Pat Handsaker, Benny Elwin, and Blake Hyde all on four under 32s. The ball comp was again stagnant at 34 nett.
Team positioning has Guns n Roses further ahead of the field now 32 shots clear of Whymees. The battle will be trying to hold this position as three of their upcoming stars move back to the Red tee’s for the remainder of the competition. 8 balls and a G have also settled back a fraction of late following last Friday’s Builders Picnic and pending Greenies pre-season training.
In other news, Dale Symes was right about last year’s champions Balls Deep. Gully won’t commit to the Odd Squad. Tommy Elwin has not fired a shot this season. Rob Hillier prefers Bali to Leeton. The new junior players are going brilliantly. Towno can’t carry the Fairway Men by himself and Nate Paul is back! But won’t pay his fines.
There is still spots available in this Sunday’s “beat the pro” three person ambrose. You win an extra sleeve of balls if you beat “the pro” whose team includes “Big Red” Mason Dryburgh and “Wild Bill” Will Wakeman.
