A cat was found in Yanco on December 4 having been shot by an arrow, described as being green and with a silver aluminium head.
The feline was taken to a veterinary hospital in Leeton where it underwent costly medical surgery.
Chief Inspector John Wadsworth was concerned about the incident.
“It definitely worries us that someone is getting around with a bow and arrow,” he said.
“Anyone with information about this should get in touch with us.”
Young driver fined after accident
TWO young females were lucky to escape without any major injuries following a car accident on the weekend.
An 18-year-old driver and a 12-year-old passenger, both female, were travelling in a silver Mazda 3 about 11.30pm on Saturday night when the driver lost control after hitting a pothole.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Stringer Road and Kirke Road in Corbie Hill.
Police were made aware of the accident while at the Leeton District Hospital on Saturday for another matter when the pair presented to the emergency room.
Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said the two had made their way to the hospital after the accident.
“The passenger was treated at the hospital,” he said.
“After talking with the driver, police went to the location and found the vehicle to be extensively damaged and it had also rolled.
“The driver has been issued with an infringement notice for negligent driving.”
Police have warned drivers to be attentive at all times when behind the wheel, especially coming into the festive season.
