After being sent in by the Carpheads, the Ferrets side were able to make a good start with father-son combination Mathew and Adrian Axtill.
After an opening stand of 39, the L&D Yellow side ran into trouble when they lost 3/3 as Mat Axtill (17), and Peter Lashbrook (0) were run out while Dylan Whiteman picked up the wicket Adrian Axtill (20).
Dylan McKellar and Rhett MacGregor tried to rebuild their side innings. However, after a fourth-wicket stand of 19 runs, the trouble soon returned for the Ferrets.
Kurt Jensen (5/11) was the chief destroyer for the Carpheads as he picked up the wickets of MacGregor (9), Patrick Handsaker (3), Hayden Mahalm (0), Ryan Newman (0) and Dylan Barton (0) while Whiteman (2/15) dismissed McKellar (6).
Rhys Wilesmith (7*) and Kai Schmetzer (2*) added some late runs to see the Ferrets finish their 20 overs on 9/79.
The Carpheads made a tough start as Wilesmith took the early wicket of Cooper Vearing (0) while Adrian Axtill (2/8) dismissed Jarrod O’Brien (1) and Cooper Irons (0) to be 3/10.
Haydn Emerson and Tom Butterfield tried to get their side back on track, but after adding 18 runs, the partnership was broken when Barton (2/16) took the wickets of Emerson (12) and Butterfield (5) in quick succession.
Jensen tried to back up his performance with the ball with the bat in hand and carried his side to success. After two twenty-run partnerships with Nick O’Brien (4) and Greg Irons (4) saw the side get into a winning position before Jensen (10*) and Brodie Perram (3*) gave their team a three-wicket win.
In the game between L&D CC Blue and Yanco Cricket Club, it was the Stags who were able to head into the Christmas break with a win and stay in the hunt for first.
With one round to go in the Twenty20 competition, the Narrandera and Yanco sides are locked at 22 points each. The Carpheads take on L&D Blue while the Stags have the bye.
