That is the call from Leeton Shire Council ahead of consultation meetings with the community to discuss planning for the Roxy Theatre refurbishment project.
Having been allocated close to $4 million for the work from the state government, now comes the process of preparing the final designs for what exactly the project will entail.
Council has said it intends to do this in “close consultation with the community”.
This will encompass both individuals and groups who are interested in how the theatre will look, function and how arts and culture will be developed in Leeton over the next 50 years.

Roxy Theatre Advisory Committee chairman councillor Michael Kidd said it was important to get the Roxy project right.
“While the current concept plans were developed after significant consultation with users, it is now appropriate to consult further before locking in the final designs,” he said.
“We encourage all interested parties to sign up to the detailed design consultation, which commences February 21.
“Council looks forward to hearing the ideas and feedback of community ahead of any final plans being commissioned.”
Issues to be discussed at these meetings include:
- Firming up a vision to ensure the Roxy is enjoyed by future generations.
- Understanding the restoration process.
- Optimising seating numbers and back of house requirements.
- Ensuring appropriate disability access and affordable operational costs for both community and council.
- Prioritising theatre equipment improvements.
- Seeking input from Leeton café operators on best way to deliver functions and food services to patrons without impacting Leeton retail commercial activity.
- Understanding what is required for successful project delivery.
Cr Kidd said everyone who wanted to have input or a say will have the opportunity to be heard.
“Nothing will be hidden - the consultation will provide community with further and better information on which to make informed choices,” he said.
“The Roxy is everyone’s theatre and we need to ensure the final designs are developed in a way that makes sense to all.
“These projects are once in life time and to get the best outcome we need input from the community. If you have something you want to say, then let’s work through things together in a constructive manner.”
The February consultation times will be advertised in the coming fortnight for people to register their interest and preferred time slot. Sessions will be run between 2pm and 4pm and 5pm and 7pm.
