After winning the toss and electing to bat, it was a rough start for the Stags as they lost Matt Dedini (3) to a run out while Brodie Perram (2/15) took the wickets of Jason Burke (4) and Danyon Evans (6) to see the Yanco side sitting on 3/16 7.2 overs.
Angus Boulton and Nathan Lanham tried to get their side back on track before their 23-run partnership was ended when Boulton was dismissed by Mick Foster who picked up the wicket of Grant Forrest (2) four overs later.
While wickets continued to fall around him, Lanham was able to keep the score ticking over as Jack Williamson (3/28) picked up the wickets of Jock Yelland (4), Jordan Camm (9) and Mark Doyle (12).
Kyle Pete (13*) and Lanham (42*) were able to add late runs to see the Stags finish their 35 overs on 8/127.
The warm conditions on Saturday were challenging enough, but Narrandera made the task even harder with the loss of early wickets.
After Narrandera got the score to nine Angus Boulton, and Josh Lanham (2/18) ripped through the Carpheads top order as Foster (1), Johnathan Doyle (2), Kurt Jensen (1), Brent Lawrence (1) and Haydn Emerson (0) all fell to see their side lose 5/2 in the space of three overs.
James Sullivan and Lachie Jess had the tough job of trying to rebuild their side’s innings but after a partnership of 23 runs their resistance came to an end with Boulton (5/19) able to complete his five-wicket haul with the wickets of Sullivan (2) and Cooper Irons (0) while Evans (1/20) picked up the wicket Kane Williams (2) to see the Narrandera side slump to 8/37.
Williamson joined Jess (32*) in the middle and the pair were able to add some respectability to the scoreboard with a 38-run partnership before Pete (2/7) ended the Carpheads struggles as he dismissed Williamson (5) and Perram (0) to see Narrandera bowled out for 75 in 18.4 overs.
The sides will meet again on Sunday in the one-day decider.
