After having a well-deserved rest day, stage six saw riders cover 838km as riders raced from Arequipa to San Juan de Marcona with Price finishing in fourth place, four minutes and 48 seconds behind first placed Pablo Quintanilla who with the stage victory retook the lead of the overall classification.
Price admitted on his Facebook page at the conclusion of the stage that his wrist was continuing to cause him some discomfort.
“My wrist is hurting more and more as the race goes on and it’s making things uncomfortable out there,” he said.
“I’ll keep cruising on though and I’m still in the race, it’s just a bit more like survival mode at the moment.”
While Price did fall back off the pace a little bit after stage six now sitting five minutes and 17 seconds behind Quintanilla, he was able to climb into a podium position.
Stage seven saw the racers travel 387km in a loop and Price held onto third place at the end of the stage.
American Ricky Brabec retook the overall lead of the race with Price sitting eight minutes and 28 seconds behind the American after picking up a one minute and 33-second penalty.
Despite the difficulties, Price was pleased with how the stage progressed.
“The day has gone well, it ended up with a lot of us riding in a group today,” he said.
“We did get lost at one point and lose a few minutes, but all-in-all things are going ok.
“Obviously, my wrist is still giving me some pain, but we’re past the point of no return now – there’s no stopping. I’m still sitting in third overall with just a few stages left so I’ll continue taking each day as it comes and keep on fighting.”
