The Rotary Club of Leeton will provide a community breakfast in Mountford Park, with music by the Leeton Town Band.
The official awards ceremony will start at 9.15am with the raising of the Australian and Aboriginal flags, and a Welcome to Country, followed by an official ceremony and presentation of the shire awards.
Another way to start the day is courtesy of the ladies of Murrami CWA, who will host their annual breakfast.
Food will be served from 7.30am at the Murrami Hall, with activities to entertain the youngsters also on the cards. Entry is by gold coin donation and all are welcome.
Wherever you decide to recognise Australia Day, remember that it's going to be hot. Be sure to bring an umbrella, hat, sunscreen and water. There will be limited chairs and free water bottles available at the Leeton event.
Residents will be able to cool off in the afternoon with the shire’s free pool party open to all and sundry from 4pm. The event will feature music courtesy of music by DJ Cheese, giveaways and rides on the Lions train and merry-go-round.
Get along to Yanco
Yanco Lions Club will again be serving their delicious Australia Day Breakfast.
The menu of sausages, bacon, eggs, grilled tomato, baked beans, toast, tea, coffee and juice keeps people coming back year after year, with any and all people welcome to attend.
At just $5 per person, all money raised is put back into the community through financial assistance to individuals and organisations that require a helping hand.
The breakfast will be held at the Yanco Hall from 7am.
Yanco Lions thanked the Yanco Hall Committee for allowing them to use the venue each year.
“We are very lucky to have such a great relationship between Yanco Lions and Hall Committee,” club member Sue Ryan said. “We certainly wouldn’t be able to offer our breakfast without the use of the hall and amenities.”
The breakfast will feature a flag-raising ceremony with all community members encouraged to attend.
“We are happy to be able to offer breakfast at Yanco and would love to see this tradition continue for many more years to come,” Mrs Ryan said.
