Heading into the second day of their two-day encounter the Colts resumed in a strong position in pursuit of the Ferrets total of 102.
Before stumps, on day one the Colts were able to get to 0/42 with Hugh Collins and Nathan Tang at the crease.
The pair were able to keep the runs flowing and got their side to within 10 runs of victory before Collins (62) fell to the bowling of Anthony Tocin (1/14).
It made little difference for the Colts as Matt Del Guzzo (3*) joined Tang (36) at the crease and got their side the first innings points.
The first innings win for the Colts means they are building a gap to the third-placed Narrandera side after rain played its part in their game against Yanco. The Carpheads were always going to have their back against the wall as they looked to chase down the opposing total of 258.
They were never given a chance as the 24.4mm that fell on Friday meant the pitch was unsafe for play and the points were split with a washout. The Carpheads will look to stay in the hunt for the top two when they take on the Ferrets next weekend while Yanco plays the Colts.
