Leeton Fire and Rescue NSW crews joined forced with the Rural Fire Service volunteers to tackle a blaze near Racecourse Road and Golf Course Estate. It was brought under control by evening before embers sparked spot fires during the night.

A new riding group has been established for riders in the Leeton area. The Eastern Riverina Trail Riding Group, taking in Leeton, Narrandera, Wagga and surrounding districts, is affiliated with Australian Trail Horse Riding Association.

LONG LINE TO HELP VICTIMS
A coin line stretching more than 300 metres was set up at Leeton Public School on Friday to support the victims of the Victorian bushfires. The line included the letters "LPS VIC" and raised a staggering $2544 for the appeal.

FATIGUE A BIG FACTOR IN CRASHES
Leeton police sergeant Phil Gray said rather than speeding and alcohol, he believes fatigue is the major issue on our roads, with poor concentration believed to be the main factor behind two serious accidents last week.
