The Leeton and District Bowling Club and Leeton Golf Club have started initial conversations about the potential of the two groups to merge.
What this will entail is still anyone's guess as both clubs start to discuss the idea with their members.
Already the L&D has received the support of its members to continue looking into the possible merger, while the Golf Club will soon set a date for a meeting to get the thoughts of their players.
Around 120 members attended the recent meeting at the L&D, according to Greg O'Callaghan who is one of those leading the push for the proposed merger.
"The members were curious about the proposal, but were open to listen to the information we had and were able to look at the concept drawings which helped a lot," he said.
"Everyone listened and many questions were asked.
"The mood was good everyone, gave each other the courtesy they deserved when speaking."
Eventually members voted and decided investigations into the proposal should be continued.
The Golf Club will hold a board meeting on March 4 where a date will be set down for its own members to pow wow.
Club president John Martin stressed the proposal was only in its infancy stage.
The club will need to get the thoughts of the members on the merger, as well as whether or not they would want a new club house.
At present the club doesn't have its own club house, but has had one in the past.
"Everything is still only in its very early stages … some people are saying the decision has already been made to go ahead with it, but it definitely hasn't," Mr Martin said.
"There's a long process that will need to be completed, but first things first is we need to have the meeting with our members to see what they want to do."
The Golf Club has seen its fair share of turmoil in recent times.

Due to financial issues it was taken on by the Leeton Soldiers Club, but now comes under the umbrella of Leeton Shire Council.
Like most small clubs, the L&D is also struggling somewhat and wants to ensure it has a strong future ahead.
"There is still a long way to go and a lot of questions to answer before anything can go forward … this is definitely not a done deal," Mr O'Callaghan said.
