On Monday Leeton shire residents will be given the opportunity to have their say about the proposal with NSW TrainLink and, for those who miss it, can do so on Tuesday in Narrandera inside the Coles Supermarket.
The new service was announced by the NSW government in December and will include all stops on the current Griffith service, including Leeton, running at the weekends.
Member for Murray Austin Evans said it would give more public transport options between regional hubs and Sydney.
“This extra service will provide customers more choice and flexibility to travel by train during the week, whether it be for work, medical appointments, shopping or to visit family and friends,” Mr Evans said.
“We want the Riverina community to get behind this new service." The proposed Griffith to Sydney service would depart either on Thursday or Friday, with the option for a morning or afternoon departure.
The Sydney to Griffith service would operate either on Wednesday or Thursday with an early morning or midday departure. It would complement the existing service between Griffith and Sydney, which operates on weekends.
