PARKVIEW Public School's 2019 swimming carnival was one of the more memorable ones to be held this year. The carnival had to split over two days after the original carnival was suspended after several events due to stormy weather, which included lightning. Participation and sportsmanship of all students was pleasing, according to Parkview Public principal Travis Irvin. There were a number of impressive swims and the following records broken from students: - Xavier Chilko set a new record in the 9 years boys freestyle stopping the clock at 42.62 taking over a second off the previous record set back in 1996. - Kobe O’Callaghan set a new record in the senior boys butterfly, finishing in a time of 44.41 to take more than five seconds of the existing mark set by James Rourke last year. - Jack Miller set a new record in the junior boys backstroke taking 0.2 seconds of the existing record set 1996. Age champions for 2019 were: Junior girls: Abigail Blacker Junior boys: Jack Miller 11 Years girls: Daniella Draper 11 Years boys: Kian Henman Senior girls: Amelia Irvin Senior boys: Kobe O’Callaghan. RELATED Bradman House were crowned the swimming champions for the third successive year in a tight final points tally. As is usually the case, the house with the highest participation rate was successful, despite some really good efforts from Thorpe and Freeman Houses.
