COMPETITIVE, but fun was the aim of the game in Barellan over the weekend. The Barellan Masters Games were held over three days, with around 200 participants taking part across the different sports. The biennial event has been declared a success by organisers, with participants even calling for the games to once again be held each year. However, with only a small organising committee tasked with co-ordinating the event, it will be a decision that will require some serious mulling over. Barellan Masters Games Committee president Jodie Landy said feedback surrounding the weekend had been positive. "The biggest thing people were saying was they would like to see it be held on an annual basis," she said. RELATED "It's certainly something we will consider and take on board. "The feedback we've had has been positive." Sports as part of the games this year included barefoot bowls, the Barellan Walk, basketball, netball and more. Competitors traveled from throughout the region and the wider area to take part. The organising committee will be getting together this weekend to debrief and discuss options for the games going ahead. "It does take a lot of work to put it together, but we're glad everyone enjoyed themselves this year," Miss Landy said. "What we like is seeing Barellan come alive and people enjoying themselves."
