THIS year isn't the first time Brian Mills has thrown his hat in the ring as an independent candidate in an election.
Mr Mills is again putting his hand up for election in Murray and says he is happy to continue pushing the envelope on behalf of residents throughout the electorate.
Debating these issues, particularly water security, is a passion for Mr Mills and he's pleased he has been given the chance to do so this time around.
"For the first time we have been able to hold a debate … it's very different to the meet the candidate forums," he said.
"This is where I can put my policies out and discuss them.
"I currently have 27 policies.
"The top five are all on water."
Mr Mills is hopeful he will again have support during the election from voters, but is under illusions when it comes to winning.
"I know I'm not going to win, but each time I think it is worthwhile nominating … it gives me a chance to debate and get the word out on my policies," he said.
