I love bringing everyone together for the cause. I get excited! There is no greater thrill then seeing projects and activities come to fruition.

I have always believed that if you live in a community, you should try and put something back for the next generation.

I love working with young people. They bring a different perspective to the table, and they think differently than us "oldies" and come up with awesome ideas.

Best of all, they keep old hearts young.

One of my favourite things is to encourage young ones to volunteer and take on some responsibility; if they are nervous about stepping up, I thoroughly enjoy mentoring and supporting them along the way until they feel comfortable.

It is an amazing thing to feel valued and part of something worthwhile, and it is an even more amazing thing to witness.

I have had a variety of jobs during my working career. But the highlight was the 15 years I spent as program manager for LYNVET LYNKS (now called GetSet), helping students with their transition from school to work.

I loved the job, it was so rewarding to work with young people who don't necessarily excel in the classroom but did excel in the workplace and the community.

We followed the destinations of our young charges, and it made me very humble and proud of their results.

Our young ones have so much potential, we just need to tap into what "rows their boat". And we will reap the rewards tenfold.
