This year more than 125 entries from 45 local artists have been received for the Penny Paniz Acquisitive Arts Competition and Exhibition, which will be held over the Easter period.
Society president Jacqui Herrmann said the response by artists to the call out for entries had been astounding.
"It's encouraging to see record entries this year, especially highlighting this year's art deco theme in the acquisitive prize," she said.
Through a proactive approach to supporting art and cultural activities in our community, Leeton Shire Council initiated the annual competition, which is now in its seventh year, and provided the acquisitive prize in honour of Ms Paniz's contribution to the arts.

It is also used to further recognise and encourage the home-grown abilities of the many talented Leeton shire artists.
The acquisitive prize of $1000 was entered by 11 artists vying for the title, with artworks focusing on the art deco theme.
There were 17 entries in the youth section.
Other categories include still life, abstract, fauna, flora/botanical, landscapes and portraits.
"Our local artists are experiencing a very supportive art culture in Leeton at the moment, with casual art days, workshops, evening art sessions and exhibitions on a regular basis within the town," Ms Herrmann said.
"We're looking forward to showcasing our artists' works and invite art-lovers hoping to buy a local artwork to come to the exhibition opening night and vote for the people's choice award."
The exhibition's opening night is on April 18 from 6pm, with the presentation of awards at 7pm.
It will be held at the Leeton Multipurpose Community Centre in Wade Avenue and will be open for viewing throughout the Easter long weekend from 10am to 4pm daily. Entry is a gold coin donation.
