The Panthers were able to score five unanswered tries to give themselves a decent hold on the game before the Greens fought back before eventually falling 29-10.

Panthers' co-coach Stephen Broome got the scoring underway in the 15th minutes when he was able to make an intercept and run 60 metres to score in the corner. Veti Mataa was able to get a second for the Black and Whites with eight minutes left in the half after he dived across from close range to give the home side a 12-0 lead at the break.

The Panthers continued their charge at the start of the second half with Michael Mitchell using his strength to push through four Leeton defenders to get the ball to the ground.

Broome scored his second of the game soon after as the Panthers looked to be running away with the game before Kane Simpson was able to score their fifth unanswered try to see the Panthers holding a 28-0 lead midway through the second half.

With 19 minutes remaining the Greens were finally able to break their duck with Todd Prest able to get on the end of a Jordan Demarzo kick to reduce the gap to 24 points.

They didn't have to wait long for a second with Clinton Green able to score under the post to see the score sitting at 28-10 with 16 minutes left in the match. That was as close as the Leeton side got however with Broome adding an extra point with a field goal in the final minute to see the Black and Whites take home the 19-point victory.

Broome praised his forwards work rate which he felt was critical to the Black and Whites picking up the points.

"It was a good solid performance from the forwards they laid a platform for us," he said.

"The backs came in and did the hard work after the work from the forwards. All over the park, everyone was putting their hand up."

The Black and Whites will now prepare for their traditional Good Friday clash with the Waratahs for the Doug Alpen Shield.

"Tahs always turn up, and it's the local derby, and it's always a good match," he said. "Hopefully we can get a lot of people down here."
