Former Melbourne Vixen and West Coast Fever defender Johannah Curran lent her expertise to the up-and-coming netballers ahead of their State Championships and Stage Age competitions coming up later in the year.
The girls from the u14s, u15s and u17s were all in attendance as Curran put them through their paces over a two-day training camp.
Under 14s coach, Georgia Fuller said it was a great thing for these kids to have access to Curran's knowledge.
"It is great especially for a country team we don't get as much experience and exposure as the city," she said.
"So to have this its really good for them. It's just the intensity and getting the great coaching and picking up all those extra handy points. There are girls from Wagga, Griffith, Barellan, Narrandera, so a two-day camp is good for them to have a hit out while we are all here."
Fuller said the Barellan sides are in a good position across the board heading into the representative season.
"We have an age for each rep team from under 11s to under 17s," she said.
"All the teams are pretty strong."
With Stage Championships coming up in June for the under 17s and Stage Age in July for the other age groups, the under 14s coach is happy with how her side is progressing after the first two carnivals.
"We have had carnivals in Queanbeyan and Young," she said.
"We are under 14s, and we competed in the open division and went really well. I think we only lost two games against Young Opens and Goulburn opens. We didn't lose to any under 17s which is good for an under 14s team."
The opportunity comes as Barellan looks to replicate a strong representative season. The association had its most successful season since the clubs inception in 2011 with all five teams competing in the State carnivals achieved top five results. The 13s were able to win their division for the second year in a row after taking out division two while the 15s took out the division three title.
