Leeton lost to the Wagga Waratahs 47-25, but the actual game was a different story.
"We stuck with them for most of the match, it was 20-all at half-time, but after that their number nine really started to take over the game," Stout said.
This resulted in three late tries to the Waratahs, which blew the eventual scoreline out. Stout said he was impressed with the commitment from his team and, while there is still improvements to be made, he believes they are on the right track.
This weekend they take on Tumut in what is a women's round on Saturday, while the men's sides have a bye for the Country v City game in Leeton on Sunday.
"Tumut are going well, so it will be another tough one ... we will have a few out as well, so it's going to be interesting," Stout said.

"We will travel to Tumut to play them the week after as well.
"I believe all the women's sides will be playing the same team two weeks in a row and then there will be a bye for them in round 12.
"It has its advantages and disadvantages."
