That is the case for Leeton's Scottish Debutante Ball, which is marking its 60th anniversary this year.
To be held on May 17, the ball will be a night to remember for all of those taking part.
This year there will be 15 young ladies making their debut, along with their partners.
The ball won't be stepping away from its usual traditions on the night, but will incorporate some elements to recognise the 60th anniversary.

Bob Parsons, who was a founding member of the original ball, will be the guest speaker on the night.
Co-organiser Anne Lepper said it was unique for an event to have been held for so man years.
"I think it's a great tradition for our town," she said.
"What sets our ball apart is the Scottish link. The boys wear the kilts and there's all the little traditions we do as well."
There's the serving of haggis, dancing of Strip the Willow and more.
The debutantes will also perform the Pride of Erin and a modern dance, which has been co-ordinated by Sarah Morriss.
Mrs Lepper has no doubt the group will come together and enjoy their night.
"We're in rehearsal mode at the moment ... as is the case every year, they are a great group of kids," she said.
"I know they will all enjoy the night."
Tickets are on sale at the Leeton Soldiers Club, where the ball will be held on May 17.
Doors open at 7pm, with the presentation at 8pm.
