Leeton shire residents will head to the polls on Saturday where they will cast their vote for one of the nine candidates who have put their hand up to be the Member for Farrer for the next three years.

It is the second time residents have had to vote in this electorate following boundary changes that shifted Leeton shire from the Riverina seat to Farrer.

Incumbent Sussan Ley has held the seat for 18 years, but she is facing some stiff competition this year, namely from independent Kevin Mack (former Albury mayor) and Labor's Kieran Drabsch, a teacher from the MIA.

Each of the candidates have given their final pitch ahead of Saturday's vote to give residents an insight into what they stand for.

The race does appear to be between Ms Ley, Mr Mack and Mr Drabsch, but as recent times have shown - anything can happen.

"My government's pledge is to keep taxation lower for families and small business, stand behind our farmers and work to create and fill jobs, whether you are leaving school or wanting to transition to new or part time employment," Ms Ley said.

Water, as well as health and infrastructure have been among the hot topics during the campaign, with the seat of Farrer even gaining national attention for the first time in years thanks to the ongoing water debate.

"In the past eight weeks ... listening to voices across Farrer, has made water a major national issue and Farrer is now in play as potentially a marginal seat," Mr Mack said.

Mr Drabsch has pledged to give regional communities in Farrer a "fair go".

"My commitment to voters is too be honest about what I can deliver, what I would like to deliver and be open about the challenges we face as a community," he said.
