It has been gathering momentum - but more thrust is needed, according to Leeton's Sue Gavel.
She's talking about a community committee coming together to fight for Leeton's chance at securing a $5 million grant to be shared with three other NSW communities.
"To be considered for these grants it is important to show a united approach to building capacity within Leeton and district," Ms Gavel said.
"We urge you or members of your not-for-profit organisation to attend."
With the steering group in action Ms Gavel says the last two meetings have been a success.
The last two workshops focused on brainstorming ideas from the "investing in Rural Community Futures" Roadshow, which has created great momentum.
"It was exciting to see we were all on the same page and ready to progress," Ms Gavel said.
"With this in mind we invite you to attend a community public meeting to finalise a plan for the Start Up Grant ($60k) which will be the first "step" towards the bigger grant."
Grant writer Sue Pearce has lent her expertise to help write the first grant application for $60,000.
Committee member Jeanine Bird put together a draft schematic, "which is an excellent overview of the ideas put forward at the two workshop".
"We have also created a Facebook page called "Leeton Connect" to keep everyone up to date with what is happening. Please go and join this page.
"Of course we would love for you to pass this onto other groups as well."
A Facebook event has been created, with RSVPs necessary for seating and catering for the meeting next Wednesday.
