Leeton shire residents will be hit with a slight increase to rates and charges in the next financial year. For a residential property with land valued at $51,000 owners can expect to pay $807.47 for ordinary rates compared to $783.56 last financial year.

The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) has officially declared Leeton an RV Friendly Town. In order to qualify for the scheme, Leeton had to successfully meet the needs of mobile travellers and satisfy stringent criteria.
SWINE FLU HITS REGION
The MIA has its first confirmed case of human swine flu influenza, with a Narrandera girl who attended a child care centre in the town diagnosed last Thursday. As a result of the positive test result, all children and staff were quarantined.
HAWKS FINALLY BEAT CROSS-TOWN RIVALS
After 40 minutes of domination at Yanco Sportsground, Leeton went to sleep in the second half, while Yanco-Wamoon, which had struggled with the speed of the Greens outfit, came alive in the second 40 minutes to run out 32-28 winners on Sunday.

WAIT ON STRIKE ACTION
A wait and see approach is now the angle Leeton teachers wish to take with regard to the teachers wage case. Leeton/Yanco Teacher Association president Alan Draper said while further strike action may be a possibility, he is confident the Industrial Relations Commission will hand down their decision on the case shortly.
GREENS DOWNED BY YENDA
Answering every challenge the Greens dished out, Yenda were one step ahead in their 40-30 win on Sunday. Rather than a tight up-front game, it proved symbolic of the proficient scoring capabilities that both Yenda and Leeton possess.
