Litty Thomas donned the blue scrubs and started work at Leeton District Hospital in June, and so far she's loved every minute of it.
She was inspired to move to Australia after hearing how great the country was from her Indian friends who had come before her.
Many of them moved to Australia after graduation, and Ms Thomas has friends who work in hospitals across the country.
She has nurse friends all over the place, from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and they all spoke very highly of their time in Australia.
"They said Australia is a nice place to work, especially for nurses," Ms Thomas said.
"They're the ones who gave me the motivation to come here."
She worked hard to pass her English test and get her registration papers to come to Australia, but all that hard work payed off when she stepped off the plane in her new home country.
She soon discovered her friends were right about Australia, and she plans to stay and raise her family in Leeton.
"Leeton is a wonderful place, even though it's a regional town," she said.
"It has good prospects, nice people, nice weather - nice everything, really."
She'll be sending her son to a local Leeton primary school and the family will be settling in the Leeton community.
Ms Thomas is an eminently experienced nurse with 12 years of nursing already under her belt; she's worked in Indian hospitals and had placements at hospitals all around Australia.
She's finished a four-year nursing course in India and has cut her teeth at hospitals in Perth, Sydney, Gosford, and Adelaide.
During her time at these hospitals she quickly developed a glowing reputation for being a hard worker.
"Girl nurses should have passion and dedication, and I feel I have both of those things," Ms Thomas said.
She's looking forward to getting to know the rest of the hospital staff and settling in the Leeton community.
Ms Litty's appointment will come as a great relief to Leeton District Hospital staff, who are always looking to get more hands on deck.
Leeton's wards are always busy, but Ms Litty is accustomed to working in busy wards in high-pressure environments.
She's worked in a broad range of fields - everything from aged care to emergency and trauma wards - and she'll be putting her skills and experience to work at Leeton District Hospital.
