Early in May the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) Roadshow came to Leeton to introduce their new and exciting program and to explore the readiness of Leeton and district to be an 'Investing In Rural Community Futures' site and be in the running to share $5m with two other communities.

The funds will strengthen not-for-profit (NFP) organisations with five rural communities, Tumut, Leeton, Junee, Nambucca Heads and Moree selected for this roadshow phase.
Each will receive a $60K start-up grant on application with three selected for $1m-plus over five years.
Immediately following the roadshow, a steering committee formed, kicked into gear and called a public meeting for all local NFPs to formulate a plan.
Much to the delight of the organisers more than 80 attended representing 100 local groups.
Using the ideas put forward at the roadshow the meeting enthusiastically endorsed the concept to form Leeton Connect.
The Leeton Connect vision is a community hub for NFPs where a coordinator is employed, community needs identified, workshops are run and funding sources identified for local NFPs.
In general, the goal is to coordinate community knowledge, skills and resources by creating and maintaining databases, and creating community engagement and networking opportunities.
It was a pleasure to witness the positive vibes at the meeting, everyone there with the aim to build community capacity in the Leeton shire.
After the meeting many stayed to network, offer ideas and show their support.
The Leeton Connect funding application for the kick-start grant was lodged last week.
With the amazing support shown by the community, Leeton is well placed to be highly considered for this grant and a share in the $5m.
Each of us can make a difference, together we make change.
