The Leeton school was able to make a fast start with three quick goals including two to Josh Lanham to see them take an 18-point lead before Lucas Conlan got them on the board just before the quarter-time break with a long-range attempt from over 50 metres.

St Francis was able to get the first goal of the second quarter before the home side kicked two in quick succession to reduce the gap to 15 points but that would be as close as Murrumbidgee Regional would get as Dean Bennett kicked a goal before the main break to see St Francis leading 6.5 (41) to 3.0 (18).

The Leeton side continued their trend of kicking the first goal of the term before Conlan kicked his second of the game to pull the margin back to 29 points.

Two goals late in the quarter to Jason Burke saw the St Francis side take a 40-point lead into the final term.

Conlan was able to kick his third of the game, but it was of little consolation as two goals to St Francis helped them secure a 13.5 (83) to 6.3 (39) victory.

St Francis coach James Sullivan said he was pleased with how his side started the game but knows there is room for improvement.

"We slackened off a bit in the second quarter and dropped off our intensity a little bit and with our game plan and skills dropped off a bit," he said.

"You have to be happy with a close to a 50-point win."
