LEETON police have reported the number of domestic violence cases being reported to them have grown.
However, while this may sound concerning, there is a silver lining, according to Acting Inspector Craig Johnson.
"The good thing is thanks to education and the media hype surrounding domestic violence, people are more aware and they are reporting these matters to us," Acting Inspector Johnson said.
"We want people to be able to do that.
"To be comfortable calling us, coming to see us or contacting Crime Stoppers.
"We are here to help."
In 2017, the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Personal Safety Survey found anabout 17 per cent of Australian women aged 18 years and over (or 1.6 million women) had experienced violence by a partner since the age of 15 years.
Acting Inspector Johnson assured victims Leeton police were here to help.
