Yanco Agricultural High School students recently traveled to Charles Sturt University's Graham Centre to gain a greater understanding of research in biosecurity, herbicide resistance, parasitology and meat science.
The activities were part of the Graham Centre's annual science and agriculture enrichment day.

The students took part in hands-on workshops that were hosted by CSU scientists and PhD candidates.
They examined parasites under a microscope, gained an understanding of biosecurity when they pretended to be vets in a mock emergency animal disease outbreak, learned about spray applications in cropping and tried their hand at lamb assessment.
Graham Centre acting director Associate Professor Marta Hernandez-Jover said the workshops gave students an insight into the diversity of careers involving agriculture, the pathways to study and the role of scientists in these industries.
"It's also an opportunity for the students to get a taste of what higher education is like and to be able to use some of the excellent research facilities at Charles Sturt University," she said.
The Graham Centre is a research alliance between CSU and the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
