FLAPPERS and felons unite - it's time for Leeton to wind back the clock and step back in time to the art deco era.
This weekend the shire is hosting the Australian Art Deco Festival and there's a whole range of activities and events planned to whet everyone's appetite.
It all kicks off on Thursday evening with an official launch of the event where VIP guests will gather to ensure festival fever continues to cause excitement throughout town.
Organisers have made sure the weekend is jam-packed with events for all ages throughout the three days, with each having a certain throwback to the art deco era and culture from the 1920s right through until the end of the 1940s.
The idea is for visitors and residents alike to come together and celebrate Leeton shire's unique art deco architecture, culture and heritage.
To help mark the occasion on Friday there will be a photographic exhibition complete with photographs of mugshots from the era, which will continue throughout the weekend, an author talk at the library, an April in Paris 1912 dinner at Pages on Pine, the screening of The Great Gatsby at the Roxy Theatre and the Hundred at the Hydro gala event on Friday night.
That's just the tip of the iceberg as things really start to heat up on Saturday with the Chelmsford Place festival playing host to stalls, performers, delicious eats, top-class entertainment, a prohibition pub and displays of vintage cars, bikes and machinery.
There's self-guided audio and guided heritage walking tours for those wanting to stretch their legs, a Tutankhamen roadshow bus and the Flappers and Felons Ball at the Roxy Theatre.
Those really wanting to relieve some nostalgia should be on hand for the soapbox derby on the "Hydro hill" from 11am on Saturday.
There's also activities at the Henry Lawson Cottage throughout the weekend, both the Yanco and Whitton museums will be open and a rocking horse display at Murrami.
Sunday will round out the shire's first winter festival with a ragtime breakfast planned in Mountford Park and the sold-out Some Like It Hot high tea.
