LEETON police are attempting to get to the bottom of a serious accident where two people suffered head injuries on Thursday night.

The accident happened about 6pm on Irrigation Way at the crossroads of Macauley and Saunderson Roads and involved a truck and a car.
The driver of the car and his passenger suffered head injuries and were trapped in the vehicle for some time while emergency services worked to free them.
They were taken to Griffith Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said differing versions of the accident had been provided to police and they were working to determine what led to it taking place.
"Police investigations are continuing into the accident to work out exactly what happened," he said.
Police, the Leeton Volunteer Rescue Association, paramedics and firefighters were all on scene.
