After beating South Wagga 5-2 on Saturday, Leeton backed up on Sunday to hold the Hawks to a draw in the Pascoe Cup catch-up round and move into fifth spot.
It means Henwood Park, who haven't lost since round three, will enter next week's clash with Lake Albert at Rawlings Park on Saturday two points adrift of the Sharks.
Leeton scored early through Michael DiLorenzo before Ryan McKenzie levelled scores for Henwood Park soon after.
A diving header by Ned Evans off a cross from a free kick gave the Hawks the lead after an hour, before the hosts struck late.
Leeton United coach Frank Alampi was disappointed the side couldn't get the win on Sunday after what he said was the team's "best start of the season".
"We absolutely dominated them for the first 30 minutes of the game," he said.
"The boys started so well and we probably could have been three or four goals up, but it just didn't happen.
"The boys are only human, so it's just as much frustrating for them."

It was a big weekend of football for Leeton, with Alampi pleased the team was able to back up and play as well as they did on Sunday.
With six of their regular players unavailable for the two games, Alampi was pleased the club had depth to cover those losses.
"We did promote a few from reserve grade, so that's pleasing we were still able to play well and match it with Henwood Park given they haven't lost a game for so long," he said.
"As I've been saying, we just need to start capitalising on our chances."
Alampi said getting his players in front of goals was something they focused on at training, but come game time, the pressure was obviously different.
"It's something you can work on at training, but the pressure during a game will always be different to that at training," she said. This weekend Leeton will take on Tumut at Mia Sportsground.
