They promised the Art Deco Festival would be back bigger and better - and my goodness did they keep their word! What an astonishing weekend for Leeton.

The Australian Art Deco Festival turned back the clock and gave us felons, flappers, roaring 20s, a street festival, markets, vintage cars and high tea.
Henry Lawson put in an appearance, there were guided tours, fabulous silhouettes, street theatre, a ragtime breakfast, soapbox derby races and more.
Like any successful event, there are always dedicated and passionate people and volunteers working behind the scenes to pull it all together.
The hard-working committee was led by Leeton Shire Council's marketing and cultural services co-ordinator Suesann Vos, and together they pulled off the most incredible event.
The attention to detail was amazing from the planning stages, educating the community about Leeton's art deco heritage right through to the implementation of this massive event.
Suesann was able to draw on a huge band of people with a wide range of expertise and, of course, Leeton Shire Council and staff got right behind the event as well.
The marketing and the art deco inspired advertising material set the scene for an extraordinary weekend for locals and the large number of visitors.
The town's main street came alive with people in period dress and the business community got into the spirit and decorated their windows and premises to the delight of the crowds that flocked to experience the event.
Old-fashion fun and community spirits reigned throughout the weekend. Witnessing the event made me very proud and appreciate our art deco culture even more.
Huge congratulations to the organisers. If you missed this one, make sure you put it in your calendar for next year. It was a truly fabulous weekend.
