We've waited, we've wondered, and now our wish has come true: Kmart have officially announced it's opening date.
August the first is the official opening day, with those doors sliding open at 8.00am.
A Kmart spokeswoman said the refurbished store will showcase a fresh layout, which is being rolled out nationally as part of "the company's commitment to an improved shopping experience for customers."
In a new twist, the store will have the self-service checkouts in the centre, combined with wider aisles making it more easily accessible for wheel chairs and prams.
Part of the team bringing the store to life, store manager Corey Martin said he and the team felt "very privileged".
"We've been absolutely blown away by the support and excitement within the local community," Mr Martin said.
"Every day we're greeted with warm smiles around town and lots of excitement for our official opening day. It will be an honour to officially open our doors to Griffith and to start making everyday living brighter within this wonderful local community."
Mr Martin is set to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Griffith team, with a rich Kmart history spanning over 17 years.
He has been instrumental in preparing for the store's opening day celebrations, recruiting 162 new team members from the local community and transferring an additional six across from surrounding Kmart stores.
All team members have undertaken intensive training in preparation for opening, gaining exposure to a variety of roles and responsibilities, whilst perfecting their customer service skills.
Griffith's store is the first store to open by the leading retailer in Australia for 2019, with more store announcements to follow later this year.
