Speech and drama will formally start off this year's Leeton Eisteddfod proceedings from July 31 to August 2.

Already the highland dancing component was held back in June, but now the competition will really heat up with ballet and revue and vocal, piano and instrumental to follow on from speech and drama.

With participants putting the final touches on their routines and acts, Leeton Eisteddfod Society president Judith Nolan was again looking forward to seeing all of the talent on show.

"My favourite part every year is seeing the little kids up there having a go," she said.

"The eisteddfod is important in giving them the opportunity to be on stage and showcase their talent.

"Some people have mentioned Griffith having an eisteddfod and that's certainly not something we would oppose.

"You could have it in the weeks before or after ours and all the students and competitors would get double the opportunity to take part."

This year marks the 57^th time the eisteddfod has been held in Leeton.

Many hours of work go into planning the event each year, with the logistics and finances always high on the agenda.

This year more sponsors were required to help the event get over the line after the long-running major sponsor announced 2018 would be its last year.

Expenses are quite great for the eisteddfod, with the higher of the Roxy Theatre each year somewhere in the vicinity of $9000.

"A lot of people don't realise that is something we have to account for and pay, so all the sponsorship we receive is greatly appreciated," Mrs Nolan said.

"We would like to thank all of those who have come on board with us this year."

There will be a slight break between the speech and drama and ballet and revue disciplines this year to allow for NSW Education Week.

"It's just too hard having the two events on at the same time and we want to make sure we have as many entries as possibly, so that's the reason why there's a break this year," Mrs Nolan said.
