Murrumbidgee Police District officers have been searching for a 34-year-old man, who was last seen at a Hay residence on Meakes Street on July 5.
Just one month later, on August 5, police attended the banks of the river about 8am after reports a body had been located.
The body is believed to be the missing man, according to a NSW Police statement.
"Police would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance," the statement read.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The Area News previously reported that the man's vehicle was located on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River after police conducted a search at local camp grounds following reports he frequently leaves town for camping.
