Owning this building is like getting a piece of history from the late 1800s.
Built by the well-renowned architect Benjamin Backhouse, the building was completed initially as a single storey, but was quickly converted to double storey. It is stuccoed brick with hipped slate roof, and lead ridge capping and valleys.
The walls of the building are 15-inches thick. All joinery is of cedar and the ceilings are high, while the balconies are all finished with wrought iron.
"Bungoona" features a commercial section downstairs featuring floating timber flooring and is freshly painted. There is a large strongroom with many signatures and dates on the door, the earliest being 1888.
This floor could be easily used again as a commercial premises or converted into a residence featuring its own kitchen and bathroom.
The top floor could be easily converted back into two apartments, each featuring their own bathroom and kitchen.
The main features are the red cedar carved balusters. All architraves, window surrounds, and skirting boards are of carved cedar. Three of the fireplace surrounds are made of carved marble.
External features include original stables, ideal for storage or conversion into a B&B, two restrooms, laundry room and a four-car garage with access via Audley Street.
This property is one of Narrandera's most historic and picturesque buildings and is a substantial piece in the facade of the town's main street.
