Leeton resident Fay Ryan is doing her part to ensure one of those organisations is put front and centre in the minds of the community.
Mrs Ryan will be hosting an afternoon tea in aid of the Charlie Teo Foundation next month and all residents are invited to take part, learn about the organisation and help raise money.

The foundation was launched by well-known Professor Charlie Teo in March last year in a bid to help people affected by brain cancer.
The foundation is "dedicated to funding brain cancer research with a low-cost model that's redefining how charities operate".
Mrs Ryan said she wanted to raise awareness of brain cancer.
"It's not really a cancer that you hear much about when it comes to fundraising and that sort of thing," she said.
"I wanted to do something because I have lost very close family members to this disease."
Mrs Ryan hopes to raise as much money as possible, but also wants to make sure the community knows more about brain cancer and how complicated it is.
"There is definitely more talk about it now and more advances in technology, but it's still really horrible.
"All cancers are horrible.
"When you have brain cancer you do suffer a lot. I just wanted to do something to help.
"The Charlie Teo Foundation puts all of its money towards vital research into brain cancer and that's exactly what we need."
The afternoon tea will be held on September 21 at the Leeton Visitor Information Centre at 2pm.
Tickets are now on sale at the centre for those wanting to attend.
"It's going to be a lovely afternoon for everyone who comes," Mrs Ryan said.
