Linda Burney, the current Member for Barton, will be the special guest at this year's Leeton Show on the opening afternoon of October 11.
A proud Indigenous woman, Ms Burney grew up in Whitton, attending Whitton Public School in the 1960s and years 7 to 10 at Leeton High School in the early 1970s.
She completed years 11 and 12 in Penrith before studying to become a teacher.

"Ms Burney often attended Leeton Shows as a child and has fond memories of the event," according to Leeton Show Society president Bill Aliendi.
It is her political career where Ms Burney forged a name for herself where she was the first Aboriginal woman elected to the Australian House of Representatives.
She was a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly representing Canterbury for the Australian Labor Party from 2003 to 2016.
It was in 2016 when she resigned from that position to contest the federal seat of Barton.
Ms Burney is the current Shadow Minister for Families and Social Services and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians.
Mr Aliendi said it was fitting to have her open the show given it is a family event and 2019 is the Year of Indigenous Language.
She is set to officially open the show on the Friday evening of the show, which will also include a night of entertainment, fireworks and many family-friendly activities.
The event will continue the following day on October 12.
