It's been a play to have a voice, learn new skills, a safe haven and a place to form new friendships and bonds.
This month the organisation will mark its 70th anniversary and a celebration is planned on September 21 with all invited to partake.
Iris Herrmann was a founding member of the Murrami CWA 70 years ago and was the first president of the group.
"Back then we didn't really have anything else ... this was a way for the women to meet up and form friendships," she said.
"That was the really important part to me and it's probably the same today.
"I met so many people I otherwise wouldn't have if it wasn't for the CWA."
The Murrami CWA, like other branches across the country, has been instrumental in achieving key outcomes for the bush.

It has been a voice for women and their community, which is something that still continues today.
"The CWA still holds a lot of respect among important circles, especially politically," current president Linda Newman said.
"They do say the CWA is much more than tea and scones, which is definitely true.
"But for me as well it has meant I have learned those skills like cooking a sponge cake and different things like that.
"It's a place where you can achieve so much."
After 70 years one could forgive Mrs Herrmann for wanting to pull back her CWA responsibilities, but she remains an active member.
She remains hopeful the branch will continue on for more years to come. Alma Herrmann and Dawn Newman are also among the current members and they would love to see more young faces come on board and join the group.
Both women agreed there was still a big role for the CWA to play not just in the Murrami area, but the wider community.
The 70th anniversary celebrations will take place on September 21 at the Murrami Hall with a special birthday luncheon and entertainment planned from noon.
Special guests will be in attendance on the day as members reflect back on the past.
RSVP to Alma or Linda by September 16.
