It was the first time they finished a home and away season as minor premiers and, now, they have made their inaugural grand final.
The idea is for that trend to continue this weekend as they search to pick up their first ever league tag title ahead of the Leeton Greens on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks have enjoyed a dream run to make the grand final and are rested and recharged ahead of what is shaping up to be an epic encounter.
After finishing minor premiers, Yanco-Wamoon earned themselves the first week of finals off, before taking on the Black and Whites in week two where they picked up an 18-16 victory to go straight through to the grand final.
It is that battle against the Panthers that captain coach Monique Higgins believes will hold them in good stead in the premiership match.
"We were down in that game and fought our way back ... we were patient and just played our game," she said.
"I think patience and just sticking to our game plan will be what will gets us over the line (in the grand final).
"The game will probably be won in defence and we're ready for that.
"We've worked hard all season and I have full belief in the girls."
The Hawks team is a mix of younger players, as well as those who have learned the craft of league tag over some years.
It is these players who will provide direction and help calm the nerves of the team on the weekend.
Higgins said the side had been keeping to its usual routine this week, but were itching to get on the field.

The match up against Leeton is a highly-anticipated one, with the Hawks already picking up two victories over the Greens this season.
"We have beaten them twice already, but all of that doesn't matter come grand final day," Higgins said.
"Leeton are a good side and it's definitely going to be a tough game.
"It's exciting for the shire to have both of its league tag teams in the grand final.
"After the last derby we played (at the end of the home and away season). I actually said during our speeches that I thought it could be us and them playing in the grand final.
"Fingers crossed we're the ones who come away with the win."
Higgins will be looking to all her players to play their role on Sunday afternoon, saying a team effort was required. "Everyone is excited, but we all know there is still a job to do," she said.
