The Murrumbidgee Field Naturalists (MFN) organisation has been in operation for 25 years and will be hosting special anniversary activities to celebrate.
MFN's main object throughout the past quarter of a century has been to "facilitate and promote the knowledge of natural history, and to encourage the preservation and protection of the Australian natural environment, especially that of the Murrumbidgee River Valley".
Members from Leeton, Griffith, Narrandera and Coleambally regularly attend outings together throughout the MIA where they observe, record and learn all about their surroundings.
Dionee Russell is helping co-ordinate the anniversary celebrations and said he introduction to the group came through her husband, Graham, who is the current club president.
"I like the many things you learn along the way ... our members have many interests and we learn so much from each other," she said.
"You can be interested in photography, birds, plants - but you always find out something new.
"At the same time you're also making new friends and you're out exploring. It's amazing the things you see."

Mrs Russell has helped to plan a three-day weekend of activities for the anniversary, which will get underway on October 18 with an outing from Leeton to Narrandera for a shared dinner by the water at the Rocky Waterholes.
The following day there will be a re-enactment of the original first outing, which took place 25 years ago at the Fivebough Wetlands.
Breakfast and brunch will be had along the way, with the re-enactment to also visit the Colinroobie Hills.
Later that evening a formal dinner will be held at the MIA Function Centre from 7pm at a cost of $50 per person.
This will include a special presentation from guest speaker Matt Cameron, who is an expert in ecosystems and threatened species.
"We're really looking forward to hearing from him and seeing everyone there on the night," Mrs Russell said.
"It will be a great chance to catch up. We've also got some of our original members coming along to share their stories from over the years as well."
The celebrations will be rounded out on October 20 when the group will spend time exploring Cocoparra National Park.
RSVPs for the formal dinner are required by October 4 and can be made by contacting Mrs Russell on 0428 536 290 or Mr Russell on 0419 350 673.
