Murrumbidgee Police District officers were joined by members of the community at St Alban's Anglican Cathedral on Friday for a service as part of National Police Remembrance Day.
Murrumbidgee Commander Superintendent Craig Ireland said the day allows for reflection and provides a means to honour those who died in the course of duty.
"Policing is a tough job," Superintendent Ireland said.
"It's one of those jobs where you don't know for sure and certain whether you are going to go home at the end of your shift and here we are paying tribute to those who unfortunately paid the ultimate sacrifice.
"It just gives us time to stop and reflect on people that have lost their lives in the course of duty.
"I'd love to be standing here and we have no names to read out."
