A committee has been formed and the ball is rolling for the shire's young cricketers.
More players are required across all the divisions and parent volunteers also wouldn't go astray.
Try outs have been held for Leeton's representative sides for the Derek Rogers, Geoff Lawson and Warren Smith competitions this season.
Junior cricket co-ordinator Scott McDonald is hopeful youngsters in the shire will take up the sport as he said it has plenty to offer.
Active Kids vouchers are also accepted to help cover the associated costs.
"As with all sports, we're competing with things like basketball, swimming, touch footy and those kinds of things," McDonald said.
"We'd love to get a few more numbers, particularly for those around the under 8s, under 10s ages.
"It would be good to have some really strong competition this year."
More parents are needed to help with the running of the competition, but it doesn't need to be a big commitment, according to McDonald.
With this in mind, the competition will host a special event with Cricket NSW to get parents more acquainted with the sport.
Cricket NSW development officer, Kelly Meddings, will be in Leeton on October 16 from to run training for Woolworths Blast co-ordinators, who assist with the junior competition.
This training will give volunteers some of the basic skills and techniques to coach young children and an insight into the program.
