Tournament throws up interesting games
THE action has been more competitive than usual on the greens at the Leeton and District Bowling Club and an upset victory has also been thrown into the mix.

The club recently held its monthly combined pairs tournament, which sees the players double up as they go head-to-head against others throughout the event.
Only one pair can be the winner at the end of the competition and, this year it was an unlikely result, according to the L&D.
The "unfancied" pairing of Jack Collard and Andrew Whitlock were able to prove they've still got it when it comes to the sport as they proved too strong for their competition on the day.

At the conclusion of play, three teams were found to be three-game winners.
However, Collard and Whitlock, with a vastly superior winning end ratio, were declared outright winners to claim the trophy. This meant the Narrandera team of Ian Black and Peter Durnam being relegated to second.
The Leeton Soldiers Club pairing of Brian Troy and Bill Mitchell can also consider themselves very unlucky to miss out on the prize money after being declared third on a countback.
Len Clare of the Leeton Soldiers Club had gone into the tournament as outright leader on the cumulative scoreboard, but a disastrous three-game losing day, this saw him slip back to fourth place behind Durnam, Leo Plant and John Leech.
The next tournament is scheduled for October 29 at the Leeton Soldiers Club.
INDOOR BOWLERS IN THE GROOVE
SOCIAL bowls was played at the Leeton Soldiers Club last week.
Once again good numbers turned up on the night.
Winners in top division were Peter Clayton and Sue Johnson, who defeated Angelo Paonne and Maureen Murrell.
In the bottom division, Des Murrell and Jim Stewart proved to be too good for Lena Papasidero and Sam Fiumara.
