This new zone will be in operation from Monday as students return to school for the beginning of term four. Leeton Shire Council road safety officer Stephanie Puntoriero urged motorists to be aware of the changes.

"The safety of all students is paramount and this new school zone helps protect children on their way to and from school," she said.
"The lower speed limit will reduce the risk and potential severity of a crash."
The 40 kmh school zones operate between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on school days.
Motorists are reminded to drive to the speed limits at all times for the safety of all road users.
Higher fines and extra demerit point are accrued for driving offences committed in school zones.
