Ensuring residents don't take that for granted is another thing, according to the Lions Club of Leeton.
The club is running a promotion throughout the month to encourage residents of all ages, but particularly young people, to ensure all is right with their sight.
World Sight Day was officially held on Thursday, but the organisation is pushing the message of good eyesight throughout the remainder of the month.

Promoting that idea is district chairman for district N4 and Leeton resident Robert Strempel.
"Because the magnifying bookmarks were such a success in 2018 we have decided to use them again in 2019 (as a way to get the message out)," he said.
"As a rule - test young eyes before school.
"This message is directed to parents of young children who are about to start school or are in their first years of schooling.
"It is important any problems with children's eyes are corrected before they start their important years of life."
Lions eye health program brochures and magnifying bookmarks are on display at the Leeton optometrists, Leeton Steel Retail, Amcal Pharmacy, Wade Pharmacy, Jack In The Box and Leeton library.
