Ms Davey was in Leeton last week after being invited to attend the NSW Nationals Leeton branch annual general meeting last week.

She used the opportunity to address the crowd, which included some non-party members, about concerns surrounding the drought, water allocations and the water market.

"Being able to speak to people face-to-face gives you the opportunity to really unpack things and understand their issues and where they are coming from," Ms Davey said.

"It also allows you the opportunity to explain to them what the limitations are in the current legislation and really identify where problems lie and where solutions might lie.

"So often at the moment people are blaming say, the Basin Plan, for issues, but when you actually unpack what the issue is and the fact that allocations are low, they would be low even if we didn't have a Basin Plan.

"The two are not connected, but it's an easy blame at the moment."

Those there on the night were also able to ask questions, which was the big reason behind inviting Ms Davey along to the AGM.

"Allocation is the biggest issue at the moment, but there's also water infrastructure, there is a general sense of frustration that it feels like we've been talking for years about more dams and we have," Ms Davey said.

"There's no overnight silver bullet, particularly for infrastructure."

Leeton branch secretary Liz Stott said attendees on the night were pleased to be able to have their questions answered and concerns addressed.

At a state level, Leeton is part of the Murray electorate which is currently held by the NSW Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. Ms Davey said the Nationals wouldn't drop the ball in the MIA despite not holding the seat.

"We're continuing to focus on delivering right throughout regional NSW at both a state and federal level," she said.
